About Maya

My name is Mayadenise, and I'm a rising junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Arizona. Sports broadcasting is my true passion, and I've had the incredible opportunity to intern as a Sports Reporter for Varsity Sports Show. During my time there, I've produced radio segments, conducted exciting sideline interviews with coaches and players, and created engaging sports recaps. Alongside my broadcasting pursuits, I've also been involved in the world of dance as a dance instructor, studio manager, and social media coordinator for Sunshine Dance & Cheer Studio. As the former captain of the California High School Varsity Dance Team, I've learned valuable leadership skills and have even won several pageant titles. Making a positive impact in my community is important to me, which is why I actively participate in advocacy work, particularly in the fight against pediatric obesity through the Lets Move!
