About Maya

Hi! I am a pre-med student, older sister, UCSB Honors graduate, researcher, caregiver, dog sitter, tutor, and mentor. I was the Valedictorian for the 2022 Class at LBCC and I compiled 150+ hours of community service, research, and leadership experience. At the Salvation Army, I tutored children after school and led a senior citizens exercise class. As a trainer for Train To Go basketball team, I led gym practices and beach trainings for 5 years for kids from 6-18 years old. I have great experience guiding and supporting students as a mentor in multiple organizations at UCSB. I provide compassionate care for people of many different ages and backgrounds with my experience as a cardiology Medical Assistant. I've worked on 6 research projects at LBCC, UCSB, and Charles Drew School of Medicine and I was a healthcare advocate in the Dominican Republic. I've earned a 3. 6 GPA and multiple honors at UCSB. My skills include time management, punctuality, flexibility, empathy, and compassion.
