Melody was our sitter, off and on, for about 3 years when they were in elementary school. My son was diagnosed many years ago with Asperger's Syndrome, which is a high-functioning form of autism. As a result of his lack of social behavior and his impulsivity, it was necessary for us to find a sitter that could be available in the morning between the time I left for work and they needed to catch the bus to school and then to be at our home again in the afternoons after school until we got home. Melody was always extremely punctual, had perfect attendance and I was confident that leaving the kids in her hands they would be well cared for. I think my son's behavioral problems sometimes was unnerving to her, but she handled them with grace and always seem to come back. She was excellent in following our instructions to the letter and was always very forthcoming with communication, questions or interest in what she could do in various situations. Looking after special needs kids can be difficult for non-family members, but I was comfortable leaving them in her care.
