Experience: 10 yrs
I've been a caregiver for 18 yrs - five years for my mother and 14 years with a care giving agency, along with other caregiving jobs. I love older people. I've always been a very conscientious, dependable, and caring person. My grandmother lived with us when I was a little girl. I've worked in business and a high school. I have first aid, diabetes, COPD, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and CPR training. I've been trained in a few lift devices. I've had clients who've had Parkinson's, stroke, PSP, diabetes, Lewy Body Dementia, and recently a gentleman with Autism. Some of my clients were mobile, some bedridden, and some required more care. I cook, bake, do household chores, etc. I love animals and am a non-smoker. My schedule I've entered could be altered if needed. I also enjoy doing overnight care-giving. Nancy provided full time companionship, personal care and household support for my 91 year old father for over a year. Dad had significant stability, medical and memory issues yet she constantly looked for opportunities to keep him engaged in daily activities and made it her personal mission to brighten his day with laughter. As his health declined Nancy supported the family's efforts to accommodate his changes. Nancy was an invaluable resource using her years of experience to coach us through the last stages of his life. Nancy was selfless as a caregiver, a valued member of a 24/7 care giving team and a comfort to my father for over a year and on his last day with us. She cared for him as she would her own parent and we couldn't be more grateful.
