I am a "people" person. I am trustworthy, honest, and dependable. I kept my Mother in her own apartment for seven years--despite her dementia diagnosis. Three years ago, my Mom received 24-hour care at home. I managed six women and I shopped for Mom's food, cooked, doctor appointments, etc. In my spare time, I attend Prayer Meetings, meet with friends and neighbors, watch (Classic Movies), baseball games, and maintain Mom's clothes, etc. The one thing families should know about me is: I care about people. Some of my friends tell me I am too nice. 1. LISTEN: Pay attention to what the senior is requesting. 2. ACT: Try to satisfy their need to the best of your ability. 3. FAMILY: Keep an open dialogue with the family.
