Ms Pat took care of both my elderly parents for a couple years. My father and mother were in their late 80’s and my father had Alzheimer’s and my mother had Parkinson’s disease. They were very physically able with walking , feeding themselves and even dressing so initially Pat helped them with meals, taking their medications , house cleaning, laundry and kept them company . As my parents mental and physical health declined Pats care increased and she became part of our family in the process. Although my sister and I were at my parents house regularly Pats care and company allowed us to have a normal family life of our own. She was the bridge that filled the gap between our visits and my parents became very fond of her as did we. Pats care eventually included bathing , dressing , feeding and changing them. They were always clean, neat and well fed. Many hours Pat sat and talked and listened to them about old times. She made my parents laugh and treated them with such respect as if they were her own. Pat was with us at the moment each of them passed at home and then comforted us afterwards. I can’t say enough about this woman who seems to have a gift of care and compassion. Although my mother was bed ridden for over a year, she never had a bed sore. The hospice nurses even commented on how clean and well kept my mother was in her condition. If anyone is looking for someone to care for their love ones as we did I can’t think of anyone who seems to have a calling for this position as Ms Pat. I will be a reference for her and would be glad to talk or answers any questions for anyone.
