In my last job I took care of a doctors mother for three and a half years. My patient suffered from dementia, aphasia and incontinence. The first year I worked by myself 8-10 hour shifts, as her health declined we hired another caregiver to give her 24/7 care. Our duties required bathing, toileting, dressing and feeding her every meal. Also managed daily running of household which included shopping, cooking, cleaning and managing her medications. I was with her until very end as died peacefully in her sleep in her home at almost 93. Before that I had two short term patients. One who had an auto accident. I helped rehab her until she was ready to go back to work. The second one I took care of while her family looked for an assisted living facility for her. She suffered from Parkinson Disease.
