About Rachel

I began working with children in January 2024 with 2 distinct programs/volunteering. First was being a foster care case reviewer for the Department of Children and Families in my home state of Massachusetts during undergrad. Reviewing 3 cases weekly on a panel for placements for foster kids. The reviews included parents/guardians, social workers, lawyers, case managers and myself (volunteer). 2nd was being a Big Sister for a year in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western Mass. I matched and paired to a Little Sister in my community. We would hangout 8 times monthly and I planned the hangouts on activities, extracurriculars, and academics for my Little Sister (Age 12). Also going to movies, shopping, for food. Serving to support, sustain and improve her social, academic and interpersonal skills. Working for and with children has given me perspective and emotional intelligence to observe, lead by example and include children in any facet of decisions to teach them of their autonomy.
