About Rachel

I am an experienced tutor and college graduate looking for tutoring opportunities in the Washington, DC area. I have several years of experience, both as a private tutor and in the classroom setting as a Sunday school teacher. I am available for tutoring K-12 students in a variety of subjects, including English (grammar, reading comprehension, writing, etc.), math (up to geometry or 10th-grade level), history and social studies, and music theory. I am also able to provide SAT preparation. I am highly analytical and enjoyed learning how to crack the code of the SAT as a student, which allowed me to score 1560 (in the 99th percentile) as a test-taker. I recently received my bachelor's degree in political science, summa cum laude, from American University, with a minor in music. I love helping kids learn, and I especially enjoy coming up with fun strategies to learn new material. I make an effort to tailor my teaching to my students' individual needs and learning styles.
