About Reggie

When I was a kid I spent every summer at a day camp. My mom co-founded and directed the Barn Day Camp in Vermont and she took me along ever since I was born. My experiences there instilled in me a true passion for that kind of work. I wanted to effect children's lives the way some of my counselors effected mine. When I turned 14 and was old enough to help out at the camp I did. Most of my work there involved looking after the staff children who were too young to attend the camp. During my senior year of high school my began her career as a principal which gave me the opportunity to volunteer at her school. That summer I also worked for that sames schools camp program. Which involved educating kids but in more of a fun based environment as well as playing sports and games with them in the afternoons. I also substitute taught at the school while I was home from college. During my summers away from school I was constantly drawn back to summer camp programs. During my first summer home I went back to my to the Barn Day Camp this time as a full time counselor. The next summer I work at a camp in Pennsylvania called Camp Saginaw were I looked after a bunk of up to twelve kids as well as coached them in sports. The next summer I worked at another camp in Pennsylvania called Independent Lake Camp where I looked after a bunk as well as taught theater during the day. I'm passionate about this work because I love be able to have a positive impact on children's lives. So many camp counselors and other adults helped me out a lot when I was younger and made me a better person. I like being able to do the same for children now that I am an adult.
