It started out when I realized my aging father, who was my best friend, could no longer enjoy the things we used to do together for fun. I realized that as his age increased, he faced many challenges with his health. It is during this time that my family decided to hire a caregiver so that he could help my dad with the things that we could not do for him. I was surprised on how life can take a turning point, how things we take for granted could matter so much to us and our loved ones. As I watched and helped my dad's caregiver help him with his daily activities, I realized how much a difference he makes in peoples lives. I made up my mind to pursue a career that can help improve and make life comfortable for those who need it most, our seniors. I started out as a Certified Nursing Assistant working at a hospital. My excellent skills and knowledge of patients' needs prompted some family members to offer me positions to take care of their senior parents after a hospital stay in their homes. My duties involved keeping up with doctors' appointments, helping with light housekeeping, communicating to the nurse of any health changes and needs and helping with activities of daily living.
