About Sara

hi all! I'm Sara, mom to a sweet energetic 9-year-old and married to my wonderful husband for 12 years. I was raised in Venezuela and Ecuador as a missionary kid, I have kept up my Spanish so I am considered fluent. I follow a pretty laid back child rearing mentality. Children need to be able to explore their world, their emotions and how they fit in that space. "Doing dangerous things carefully" is one of my favorite quotes, making sure the kids have the right tools to tackle the task is key. Same outlook for emotions. How can we expect the tiny humans to control what they don't understand. Understanding "this is a big feeling, I see you are upset because I said no. This is to keep you safe or this is not a -right now- thing but we can later. Boundaries are important for safety. I am also a certified birth doula and postpartum care doula. The last family I worked with had newborn twins that I helped with along with their 2-year-old.
