Hello! Thanks for checking out my profile. I'm looking to return to childcare after taking time off to settle into my new life in California. I moved here in July from the DC area for my predoctoral internship and am a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology, graduating in May 2025. I earned my master's in Clinical Psychology in 2022 and specialize in early childhood mental health. I've worked at a child development center (infants, toddlers, and older kids) and provided childcare as a side job through college and grad school. I've cared for 2-year-old twins, infants, neurodivergent children, children with selective mutism, and mostly kids ages 2-7. I even babysat six kids at a wedding! Parents have praised me as attentive, caring, reliable, and fun. Every local family I babysat for became repeat clients. We had Shania come baby sit /nanny our three little tornados. 4 years, 2 years and 4-7 months. All. At. Once. Most people will say oh yeah, sure, I can do that. But then they walk in and you can see they’re not comfortable. Add in that we’re probably the over involved type parents, and we really struggled to find someone that 1) we trusted, 2) the kids liked (LOVED!), and 3) that we could trust would add enrichment to our children’s experiences (not just surviving). Shania is so great. Just one of the best people we’ve ever had the joy to host in our home to help us with our kids. Our oldest (4 year old boy) couldn’t decided if our dog was still his best friend or if it was now Shania. The two year old is a daddy’s girl through and through and every person before Shania and ever person since has called us with her crying for dada on the phone, but not Shania. She’s also great with babies - she started with us at like 4-5 months and we never had a concern. We often joke that of course it took a person with a phd in childcare for us to really trust her. If we hadn’t relocated to Switzerland for work, we wouldn’t let you have her because she’d be spending all her free time with our kids. She’s literally the best!
