About Sheila

I worked at MetroHealth Medical Center for about 10 years as a research associate in cancer care. During this time, I volunteered at the nursing home on site, becoming incredibly close with many of the residents but with two ladies, in particular. Earla and Maxine, among so many others, had no family to visit them. For years until they passed, I went to the nursing home twice a week, bringing them food and clothes, celebrating their birthdays, painting their nails, just doing anything to make them less lonely, to see their smiles & let them know they were loved. It was the most rewarding thing I've ever participated in, honestly. I would bring both of them home to celebrate holidays with my family. I will never forget those amazing women and miss them to this day!
