I love to see students develop their reading and writing skills! It's a great pleasure for me to see ways that they make connections between their worlds and the worlds they learn about. I have a grades 7-12 ELA teaching license with an MA in Education and a BA in English literature. I have been teaching college freshman writing courses for almost a decade. I moved to NYC to pursue my PhD in English Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. I spent 2 years as a literacy coach for elementary school kids who have learning disabilities, or who were behind on reading/writing. My work focused on developing letter/word recognition, spelling, and other literacy skills.
