About Sonja

Caring is part of who I am--it feels like my purpose. When I was a teen, my grandfather survived a terrible accident that left him with sudden, severe dementia and later type 1 diabetes. Helping him through insulin shots and daily care taught me patience, creativity, and the power of humor. He lived another 14 years, and his strength and mischief shaped how I care for others. My grandmother, nearly 94, still inspires me with her resilience, even after a stroke and broken femur. My service dog, Ruger, born deaf and blind, has been my teacher in empathy and resilience for 12 years. These experiences shaped me into a caregiver who is gentle, compassionate, and devoted--with a silly side that keeps things light and joyful. My goal is always to ensure those I care for feel safe, respected, and truly loved.
