Currently I work part time as a substitute teacher; I also work part time as a nanny. For almost two years I cared for my parents in my home, providing direct caregiving, as well as managing our other caregivers. My dad had Parkinson's and dementia and my mother had severe Rheumatoid arthritis, as well as many other health challenges. I have many years of experience working with children in several different capacities, I have worked as a youth counselor, summer reading program coordinator, tutor, teacher/travel guide for Japanese exchange students, Sunday School Teacher, and homeschool mom. I have worked as a nanny for over 8 years, my first long-term nanny job spanned 5 years with one family. I am looking for another part time job for the summer to replace my substitute teaching. In the fall, I will return to my tracing certification program. I also enjoy landscaping, home organization, hiking, and being outdoors.

Susan loves children and cares deeply for their overall well being. She loves to help them learn and is always looking to give them new experiences. Kids pick up on her enthusiasm and happily join her games. Her discipline is gentle but firm, fair, and consistent; she tries to use redirection and distraction whenever possible and is really good at it. Because she pays attention, she can discern which kind of discipline will work best for each child), and she seems to have an endless well of patience without letting kids get away with misbehavior. Susan takes initiative-I really appreciated how she would proactively ask about things she could help me with. She came up with lots of fun games, crafts, and activities to play with our boys. She would sometimes arrive to work 5-10 minutes late, though she always let me know. It wasn't often enough to be a serious problem, but it happened often enough that I noticed. Still, I would be delighted to have her back if she lived closer!
