About Susan

Hello! I am an active retiree, after a career that included living in Asia for 20 years, where I raised my four children and worked in drinking water projects. I took care of both of my parents in their last years; my mother had Alzheimer's. For 18 months I worked with clients of a home healthcare agency, most of whom had some form of dementia. I also worked for a year with a wonderful woman who recently succumbed to a disease similar to ALS. I enjoy working with seniors: drawing them out, connecting them with memories through games, puzzles, music, reading, and even writing haiku (short Japanese poems). I also like spending time with seniors who enjoy conversation, or might like to get out for some interesting excursions. It's always a pleasure to learn about their lives! I was a Peace Corps volunteer, Girl Scout leader, and community volunteer. I love cycling with my husband, camping, reading (history), puzzling, travel, and time with my grandkids!
