Experience: 10 yrs
I started my career as a babysitter at the age of 11. My mom ran an in home daycare so I have an extensive amount of experience with children. I have two children 21 and 27. I worked at a preschool for 2 years before getting a full time nanny job that I was at for 6 years with twin 7-year-olds, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. Before that I nannied part time for a family for two years with three girls. I have been a nanny for the past two years for a 6-year-old also helping with household management I am passionate about the care of children and feel it is so important and formative for children to have a loving environment especially when parents are working.
We are writing this letter to share our experience working with Tara. When Tara completes her contract with us, she will have been with our family for two and a half years and will have cared for our daughter from the age of 4 to 6 and a half years old. She has also supported our family’s household management responsibilities (between two households each week as we are divorced parents). Examples of household management responsibilities: sourcing and managing contractors for home repairs, managing dry cleaning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, purging/organizing play spaces, weekly laundry, and other miscellaneous errands as they arise. Tara brings exceptional professionalism, maturity, and reliability, and truly stands out among nannies we’ve worked with or met. When it comes to how she has supported our daughter’s growth, we cannot say enough! She has worked alongside us and her teachers (since pre-school) to ensure that we are maximizing her learning outside of the classroom. This resulted in her being very advanced in reading and math before she even entered kindergarten. Tara is able to see what makes our daughter unique and what her organic talents and inclinations are, and we can see how she nurtures them via verbal encouragement and by aligning activities to foster them. Having partnered with Tara for as long as we have, we have also observed how Tara evolves activities and communication style in a way that is age and developmentally appropriate. We are a family that encourages self-expression, including the identification and sharing of feelings. Tara is masterful at bringing that out in our child, and, as parents, we have learned a lot from watching how she does this. (We have learned a lot from Tara in many areas, actually.) She is also very calm, steady, and reassuring, even in stressful moments. Tara has been very intentional about receiving and sharing feedback from instructors for our child’s extracurriculars which she manages during the week: music lessons, tennis, etc. She consistently seeks out and organizes fun learning activities and playdates at the local parks, libraries, and meetups. She ensures there is daily outside play and will schedule indoor play at various locations around town when the weather is bad. She has always encouraged our child’s imagination and creativity with the home-based activities and play that she organizes for her. Throughout our relationship, Tara has been a proactive and thorough communicator. She is very organized in tracking exceptions to our agreed-upon schedule and likewise in sharing with us well in advance when she will be taking her PTO, has appointments, etc. Outside of logistics, she is also a fantastic communicator about what she is experiencing and seeing with our daughter, which allows us all to collaborate well on her care. Tara is consistent, always on time, discreet, mature, and trustworthy. She maintains a very high standard in these areas, which can be a challenge In our time with Tara, we have all felt loved, respected, and cared for. She conveys this in every point of communication, decision, and action she takes. She has created the most irreplaceable ripple effect in all of our lives. Any family would be very lucky to have Tara’s support. Our hope is that she selects a family who is truly worthy of (and will appreciate) the elite care and partnership she brings. Please feel free to call on us for a verbal reference beyond this letter if there are specifics not provided here, or if any elaboration would be helpful. Sincerely, Tegan and Brian
