My approach to teaching is very unique and geared to younger students.(ages 8 to 16). I have learned that by giving young students a practical application into the basics of music, students discover their own passion for making music and build a desire to want to grow and learn more. Formal Education: Highland High School, Highland Indiana (Jazz, Concert, Marching and Symphonic Bands Purdue University Summer Jazz Camp (scholarship) Berklee College of Music (performance) Private Education: Joe Hunt Skip Hadden Marshall Thompson Jack Bowenowski Performing Experience: Veteran Los Angeles musician since the mid 80's, performing in all areas of live music from night clubs to touring to television. Have recorded and played drums on over 100 records ranging from small independent to Major movie soundtracks. Experience Teaching: I've taught privately for many years as an opportunity to help young musicians get a solid foundation and earn extra income. But for the last 7 years I have worked for a Non-Profit organization called, "The Drumming For Your Life Institute". I work with them as a facilitator running programs with children ages 8 - 14 for an after-school program called "Reading Rhythm", and Juvenile Hall and Youth Detention Camps in LA County running the "Life Skills" program. I am confident in my approach to working with young people by showing that anyone, (if they want it bad enough) with a bit of effort can achieve anything they set their mind to.
