About Kara

Hi! I'm Kara, a passionate and experienced teacher specializing in early literacy and foundational math for primary students. With 23 years of teaching experience, I help children build the essential skills they need to succeed in school. In reading and writing, I focus on phonemic awareness, letter-sound relationships, decoding strategies, fluency, comprehension, and early writing development. I use research-based, child-centered methods that support each learner's unique pace and learning style. In math, I guide students through core concepts such as number recognition, counting, addition and subtraction, place value, and problem-solving. I use hands-on, visual, and interactive strategies to make abstract ideas concrete and enjoyable. My goal is to help every child feel confident and capable, whether they're just beginning or need extra support along the way.
