About Karen

Hello! I am a veteran teacher and I tutor in the lobby/library area of 345 Bayshore Blvd, which is the yellow high-rise directly across the waterway from TGH. I am certified in Elementary Ed 1-6, Early Childhood PreK3-KG, Reading, Varying Exceptionalities, Art, and Physical Education. I earned National Board Certification in 2006, which is one of the highest honors a teacher can earn. In addition to the unique needs of your child, my focus will be on anxiety-reducing approaches to learning. I strive to make learning as fun and hands-on as possible, inclusive of sensory/creative elements where appropriate. I teach Exceptional Student Education at Wilson Middle School in Hyde Park. I charge 1/2 my usual rate the first time. I adore travel and have an 11th grade daughter who is a National Scholar and a Rower at Plant. She tutors as well. We've lived in S. Korea and Japan where I taught for the Dept of Defense. I have a very special way with kids and I love teaching/tutoring!
