I have volunteered time at senior adult homes. I grew up with an elderly couple living next door. They were like surrogate grandparents to me and my 4 siblings. Although we had grandparents, they weren't nearby. Mr. R. taught me to use tools, pulled our loose teeth, subjected himself to "interviews" when we had school reports to write. My own grandma passed away 4 years ago and we all miss her SO MUCH! She had 23 grand-kids and loads of great grandchildren. She remembered all of us right up to the end. I am mesmerized when listening to the stories that the elderly have to share about the life they experienced, and I soak up the wisdom they have.
